Our Cavapoo Size Ranges Based on the Poodle Parent

Safari Doodles Cavapoos generally mature between 12 and 25 pounds, depending primarily on whether the Poodle parent is a Miniature or Moyen Poodle.

At Safari Doodles we use Miniature Poodles and Moyen Poodles, which gives families two predictable size ranges to choose from. Cavaliers usually range from 12-22 lbs, and are shorter dogs with a heavy body structure. Poodles are typically longer leg, leaner and taller when the same weight as a Cavalier. An example is Jazzy is a 14 lbs Cavalier who is 11" tall. Ruben who is a poodle is 14 lbs but is 13" tall.

Mini Poodle Cavapoos

When we breed a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to a Miniature Poodle, our Cavapoos generally mature to:

12–18 pounds
12–15 inches tall at the shoulder

This size works well for families who want a smaller companion that is still sturdy and athletic.

Moyen Poodle Cavapoos

When we breed a Cavalier to a Moyen Poodle, our Cavapoos generally mature to:

18–25 pounds
15–17 inches tall at the shoulder

These dogs have a little more height and substance while still being a very manageable companion size.

Even puppies from the same litter can mature at slightly different sizes because each puppy inherits a different combination of genes. We use the size of the parents, grandparents, previous litters, and family lines to give the best estimate possible, but adult size is always a range rather than a guarantee.
